Happy Holiday season, and watch out for that egg nog and mistletoe.

This weekend we’ve got a Von Trapp singer at the KenCen, Latke mania at Sixth and I,

The Three Cantors and more at the National Menorah on the Mall, Messiah singalong

 on Tuesday, and a Christmas Day Jazz Jam, both at the KenCen.

M – 11 AM – St. Johns Church on Lafayette Sq. at 16th and H Sts. NW will present a Festival of Lessons and Carols for all to sing with their outstanding choir, featuring NPRs Barbara Van Woerkem and others. 

A – Noon – 5 PM – Malcolm Davis Porcelain, with silks, jewelry, glass, etc. 2322 19th St. NW

M, etc. – 4 PM – Lighting of the Nat’l Menorah on the Ellipse, on Constitution Ave. between 15th and 17th. (you thought maybe there was another Ellipse?)  Features “The Three Cantors,” The US Navy band, Dreidelman, and of course latkes.  tickets required – available at the website www.nationalmenorah.org   (FYI – the no limit Texas Dreidel tournament is at 6th and I Historic Synagogue on Saturday, really  Ya gotta love the person who thought that one up!)

M – 8 PM – Messiah sing a long at the Kennedy Center – ticket line starts at 6 PM – one ticket per person.  KenCen opera orchestra,  and a 200 voice choir plus soloists.  A DC tradition!
